JEN CHUNG Ms. Chung has been teaching English as a Second Language at Lyndhurst High School for 4 years. She also taught ESL at Morris Hills Regional District and at an elementary school in Paterson. She received a B.A. in history at Rutgers and an M.A.T. in TESOL at Teachers College. Before going into education, she worked briefly in publishing. She feels fortunate to teach this particular group of students who represent a variety languages and cultures and add richness and diversity to our Lyndhurst community. What they do on a daily basis is aptly summed up by the old saying that everything Fred Astaire did, Ginger Rogers did, but backwards and in heels. English learners not only face all the challenges of a typical high school student, but also have to learn all their subjects in a different language and adapt to a new culture. Ms. Chung admires her students for meeting these challenges with great patience and perseverance. Her goal is to assist these students in being prepared linguistically and academically for high school and beyond. |

EMILY RINGEN Ms. Ringen has been part of Lyndhurst High School since 2012. She began as a physical education and driver education teacher, until becoming Dean of Students in 2017. Ms. Ringen is the Varsity Head Softball coach and Assistant Girls Volleyball Coach. In her first year as head softball coach, Ringen and the 2014 squad won the school’s first ever state sectional title. Ms. Ringen serves many different duties throughout the building including – 9th and 10th Grade Honors Club Co-Advisor, School Safety and Climate Team Member, Lyndhurst Municipal Alliance Member, School Improvement Panel Member and collaborates with administration and staff on daily operations throughout the building. Ms. Ringen graduated in 2010 with her BA in Physical Education with a minor in Adapted Physical Education, from SUNY Cortland. After college, Ms. Ringen gained teaching experience in Queensland, Australia, Rockland County, NY, and New York City before coming to Lyndhurst. In 2017, Ms. Ringen graduated with her MA in Educational Leadership from Ramapo College. She takes great pride in being a part of the tradition of excellence in the Lyndhurst community through academics and athletics. |
