Mrs. Kim Huntington
Business and Technology Teacher
Prior to teaching, I worked in the legal field as a Legal Assistant and Office Manager for 7 years. I completed a Bachelor’s Degree with a dual major in Business Administration and Business Education. This is my 10th year at LHS and my 18th year in teaching business and technology courses to high school students. Over the years the technology, software, and devices we use have drastically changed, however, high school students have the same fears and needs. Being a teacher allows me to work with teenagers and help them find their way through high school and beyond. Most satisfying to me is witnessing those “lightbulb moments” of learning when students apply their knowledge learned to real life scenarios and realize their skills and talents.
My first 6 years at LHS were focused on bringing the school yearbook into the 21st century; highlighting our school and community activities, including all students multiple times, and celebrating all of our seniors. It was an honor to be the first teacher to teach yearbook as a class and gave me the opportunity to work with my students at a higher level. Currently, I am a co-adviser to the Computer Club and the Robotics Club.
As a teacher I enjoy assisting my fellow colleagues as well, participating in one-on-one sessions, both formal and informal group sessions in technology and software to provide Professional Hours, ScIP programs, and technology workshops. If I find something that works or is helpful I like to share it with others.
I believe we have the power to improve each other’s lives each day with our words and actions. In my classroom, I teach respect, empathy, gratitude, responsibility, the importance of being true to your word, and how to be a team player. My students are future consumers, employees of business, and even business owners all of which require these values. They become successful teenagers before graduating, but I want them to be successful 30 year olds.
My goals are to intrigue, inform, and inspire my students to become life-long, independent learners. It is important for students to know that their decisions during high school will create opportunities for their future. I want them to be prepared to take advantage of those future opportunities.
My husband and I have been married for 21 years and we have two amazing daughters and a loving dog. I have a tween, a teen, and a 100 lb. Golden Retriever, who thinks he is a lap dog. In my free time, I enjoy hanging out with my family, exercising, taking yoga, reading, and taking photographs.
Mr. Tom Rowland
Guidance Counselor
Mr. Rowland earned his Master's in Education at William Paterson University and his Bachelor of Arts at Bloomsburg University. He has been a counselor at Lyndhurst High School for 5 years. Prior to counseling, he was a diver in the United States Navy. Mr. Rowland enjoys talking to students about their future plans. In addition, he is the Co-Advisor of the Ultimate Frisbee Club. Outside of school his favorite activities are playing baseball, traveling, and working as a volunteer with the Big Brother Program.
