Scholarship Application Instructions

 


 

MINIMUM GPA OF 2.5 or higher is required.  In addition, please see individual sponsor requirements.

Please review thoroughly and include all required materials.

 

  • Type your responses directly on form
     
  • Handwrite the name of the scholarship on each printout
     
  • Submit application along with any additional required materials (essay, additional forms, etc.) by March 11, 2016.  Applications will not be accepted after this date.  No exceptions.

 


 

GROUP I SCHOLARSHIPS (Selected by Awards Committee):

The following scholarships require:

  • ONLY ONE APPLICATION accompanied by Group I Scholarship Checklist.  Please print the checklist and indicate the scholarships for which you are applying.

  • NOTE:  There is no need to submit a second Group I Application if you have already submitted one for Phase I. Please submit ONLY the New Group I Checklist for phase II if you have already submitted a Group I Application.

One boy & one girl student with a disability and currently receiving special education and related services.

June H. Falco Memorial Scholarship   $500.00

Nursing or teaching. Financial need. Student should demonstrate ability and willingness to help self to meet goals.

Lyndhurst Education Association Scholarship   $1,000.00

Continuing in the field of Education. Please award to a student in financial need when possible.

Lyndhurst Elks In Memory of Catherine Wooby Glock Scholarship   $1,000.00

1 boy, 1 girl Furthering Education

Polish American Citizens Club Scholarship   $1,000.00

At least 50% Polish/Slavic Ancestry, Continuing education, top 25% of class. Please provide documentation of Polish/Slavic ancestry.

Anthony P. Marotti Memorial Scholarship   $3,000

Minimum B average, two sports, four varsity letters. Demonstrates Leadership qualities and community service. Please provide a brief essay (no more than one typed page, single spaced) describing a situation or event where you had to overcome a particular hardship or difficulty. How did the way you responded to that challenge affect you in the way that you think and live your life?

Craig D. Lilore Scholarship   $1,000

Min. GPA 2.5, College/Voc Tech/Trade School/Exhibit determination, welcomes challenges, perservance, self-discipline, caring, looks to the disadvantaged (Craig's traits and characteristics)

Dennis Taras Memorial Scholarship   $1,000

Financial Need, Leadership, Community Service, Character, Extra Curricular Activities, Academic Achievement. Applicant must be a natural or adopted descendant of an Honorably Discharged US Veteran (living or deceased) and provide a copy of DD214 Form.

Jefferson-Columbus School Award - College   $250

Awarded to 2 students who are graduates of Jefferson School. One to student attending 4-year college; one to student attending 2-year college. Parent must be a PTA member.

Jimmy C Memorial Scholarship   $3,000

Continuing Education or College. Four-year Soccer player, average student or better. Essay: "Why I should be chosen to receive the Jimmy C Scholarship." Interview required.

Lyndhurst Chapter of UNICO National Scholarship See Attached $500

Medieval Times Scholarships (2 Recipients)   $500 - $1,000

Awarded to two of the top 10 students. One recipient will receive $500 and the other will receive $1,000 based on academic achievement and extracurricular activities. Essay required: "What are your dreams, where do you see yourself in the future, and how have you overcome obstacles to get where you are today?"

Mildred Caffrey Scholarship   $100

Must be attending four year college. Parent must be PTSA member.

Sharon Esposito Memorial Scholarship See Attached $1,000

Recognize athletic achievement

Taylor Dursun "High Spirit" Award   $500-$1,000

GPA 3.0 or above, participant in sports or clubs, at least 40 hrs of community service. Essay Required: "Where do you see yourself in 10 years and how do you think the criteria of this scholarship will assist you in achieving those goals?" Max 500 words

Timothy Kearns And Sean Kearns Memorial Scholarship See Attached $1,000

Recognize athletic achievement

Washington School Scholarships (2 Recipients)   $200

Two recipients with A-B average, who graduated from Washington School, and was a past PTA member and is a current PTSA member. At least one recipeint must attend a 4-year college full-time.

Woman's Club of Lyndhurst   $1,500

Male or Female applicants with a 3.0 GPA, evidence of citizenship to School and Community, and proof of acceptance in a 2 or 4 year program.

Woman's Club of Lyndhurst Instrumental Music Award   $300

Participation in Instrumental Music for minimum 3 years; citizenship to school and community involving music; letter of recommenation from Band Director and teacher or counselor
